PLANNING FORUM:

The planning Forum of Tezpur College came into existence in 1969 and has been functioning since then. The Principal of the College is the ex-officio Chairperson of the Forum and presently Mrs. H.N. Sarma and Mr. Basanta Kalita are the Deputy Chairperson and Programming Officer respectively. Besides taking active Participation in the planning process of the College it has also set up a small library through which it is helping the poor and the needy students. Planning Forum also organizes various self employment training programmes from time to time.

N.S.S.

The National Service Scheme was introduced in Tezpur College in 1974 and since then it has become a very strong component of the College. Various social activities like ‘Safai Abhiyan’ have been undertaken by the Tezpur College N.S.S. unit at different times. Mr. Jayanta Bordoloi is functioning as the programming officer of the unit at present.

N.C.C.

The college has raised both boys’ and girls’ NCC Units with large and active participation of the students. Besides NNC the College has one unit of Guide which has able to win laurels from different quarters.

P.G.C.S. CENTRE

A post Graduate Correspondence Study Centre of Gauhati University has been established in the College in the 2005-06 academic session. A favouable and encouraging respond has been received from students and the number of enrollment is also very good. Teachers also help the students of the centre whenever they request for the same. Mr. Dipam Saikia has taken the responsibility of being the Coordinator of the College centre.

Seminar/Workshop

Three UGC sponsored National Seminar were held at Tezpur College till now. The first seminar was held in 1985 on ‘Nehru and his contribution’. The Second seminar was held on 6th to 8th December 2004 by the Geography Department, where as the third seminar was held on 6th & 7th January 2006 by the Assamese Department.

Gymnasium Hall

A modern and multi gymnasium centre has been established in 2005 at the College with the financial aid from UGC and is names as “Tezpur College Gym”. Students can use the gym at a very nominal rate. The gym is also open for the outsides also. It is worth mentioning that Tezpur College has won best team at the 2006 Inter-College Body building Competition under the Gauhati University.
